Agreed! Why watch Redzone if you have ST and can flip to any game YOU want? I can see the value to a non-DTV sub who has no other option but not someone who has access to every game just a few channels up.

I watch redzone -because there are no commercials or injury timeout's -solid football uninterrupted, sunday and monday - I watch it with pandora on- YMMV

+1.  If I want to keep up with specific teams, Red Zone is actually more irritating than anything else.  Granted my attention span is just too strict to allow me to get into another game for a couple minutes before switching to another game.  I just get lost.  Not to mention when you see an amazing 45 yard rush for a touchdown.  You miss those kinds of plays.

Actually, RedZone usually does end up showing those plays too, usually a few minutes after it happens they will have a recap that shows the play (assuming they weren't already showing that game since that team wasn't in the "Red Zone").  At least that is how it used to work, I haven't had it the last couple years as I've been gone so many weekends Sunday Ticket would be a waste of money for me.

They used to actually advertise that you would see every scoring play from every game.  They show as many as they can live, and the ones they miss they show as a replay.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

I watched a lot of DirecTV's Red Zone Channel last year, and never saw them show more than two games at once.  I believe the "quad-box" is solely an NFL RedZone thing.

You must have missed my equipment listing in my sig, I canceled DirecTV last August, so yeah, I saw it on the NFL RZC.

Ceton 6 tuner eth, Cisco Tuning Adapter 1520, TWC Digital Explorer Pak and Standard Internet, TiVo HD (upgraded to 500 GB) for OTA,TC-P50U50, SONY NSZ-GT1 BD player and Google TV box, Yamaha RX-V373 A/V receiver, Squeezebox Duet music streaming device, Xbox 360

My contract's over in June. I have had the Sunday ticket the last 2 years - the Max for free in the first year, as part of the promotion, and the regular one + Red Zone for a promotional price of $119 or something like that last year. This year, I'll try to just get the Red Zone. I wouldn't mind paying something like $50 bucks for the Red Zone.

They still do. Not only every scoring play but every good play, every turnover, etc.

I won't be purchasing either. To expensive, for my budget, for just a few hours of TV, for 17 Sundays in a row.

Opting out of ST this year.  I figure that between Thursday nights, Sunday nights, and Monday nights plus other opportunities I'll get approx 8 Bears games for free (I live outside of Rochester, MN - so Vikings country).  I can't justify the cost for the other 8 games and I don't want to spend the time trying to negotiate a better price.  $15/game - maybe.  $25/game - no way.

Being I am retired now and at home I get to watch my local team every week via the local stations.    I am also a season ticket holder for the Saints, so I will not renew my Sunday Ticket.

I will not be buying it this year. With all the games that will be on regular TV no need to get this. Price per game compared to NHL MLB and also NBA ticket it is way to much.

Correct and this assumes you want to commit every Sunday to being in front of the TV as opposed to going to a fair one weeeknd, blah blah.  Yes you can buy it a la carte, but the per Sunday price is a joke.

Certainly not all, but a good portion of NFL fans will go with their locals and Red Zone as these are people that gamble with their fantasy teams, football pool or the point spread.  The big dark secret the makes the NFL the clear ratings winner.

I called about a week ago to ask what the price for 2013 ... i was also told, like some here from a CSR that it was $199 again this year for basic.. i decided to bite since it was the same price as last year. My bill came out yesterday and looking at the charges they billed me  "5 payments of $44.95" for the sunday ticket... Now, i might not be the best at math but, that comes out to $224.75 not $199.....

Not many Saints games being shown where I live, so I'm bound to pay for ST this season (got it 4 free last year). Wish the NFL offered games to all providers on an a la carte basis.  If reasonably priced, they would make a killing.

They used to, not sure if they still do though. When you brought up the channel, and you were not a subscriber, there was a icon on the lower right hand corner that allowed you to purchase the single game.

So no discount this year? Historically, there used to be about a $15-$20 discount for renewals. I was hoping that those who were told the price was $199 were quoted the renewal price.

So what does DirecTV mean when they have those ads now that say less than $2 per game?  How are they calculating that?  Or am I viewing that ad wrong?

I'm guessing that over the course of the 17-week season more than 113 games will appear on Sunday Ticket. That would make the $225 price less than $2 per game.

Per GTs list a minimum of 144 games are on ST.

They dont say in the commercial that they are talking about max so seems they mean just the $225 version.

144 x 2 = $288 which is less than $225 so yep its less than $2 per game.

You can't see "all the action from all the games" on RedZone. You see the biggest plays live or delayed, presumably, but you surely don't see everything.

So if the only action you're interested in happens on scoring plays or near the goal line, yeah, RedZone is good for you. But that's just one definition of "all the action."

It's not just near the goal line, it's every big play, every good play, every turnover and it's non stop action with no commercials, no timeouts. I watch my teams games, but other than that I'm glued to the Redzone.

Yea i dont get why people say redzone is just goal line & scoring plays.

What do they think happens at 1:00 for example is the screen just supposed to stay blank until 1 of those situations occurs ?

Or at 4:30 when sometimes theres only 3 games -- if it was just for only those 2 situations again there would sure be alot of blank screentime.

This really is the best part of RedZoneChannel.....I watch the Niners game and then the rest of the time its RZC simply because its non-stop football....no commercial after a kickoff, no timeouts.....just non-stop football. I will say that the end of the day when there is only 1 or 2 games going on its kinda boring because they do a lot of earlier game recaps and stats....but IMO its the best way to watch the NFL when you're not watching your team play :)

Well, that's great if you want to watch football only at the start of each window.

But it isnt just at the start.

Alot of times in the 4:05-7:45 window 1 or 2 games are in a timeout while the other 1 or 2 are only at the 40.
