KSBills,

The first CSR I talked to said I was not eligible for anything until next year.  Asked for a supervisor and signed a new 2 year agreement on Friday.  This is what I received.

1 HR44-500 with 2 C41-500 free and dropped shipped today.

Sunday Ticket for 147.99

$5 off HBO for 6 months.

$10 Credit for 12 months

$200 Visa Gift Card.

I think it was a good deal since my only other choice is Comcrap and I was not going anywhere anyhow.

That seems like a good deal. I would have wanted the ST for free though. $200 gift card is nice. I piggyback on a friends HBO2Go account for HBO. I know that's evil. I currently have two HD-DVRs. Would move the one in my living room into my sons room and replace it with the Genie. Should give me 9 tuners? Or am I wrong on this?

Yep, 9 tuners, and as such you would need a SWM16

I received ST for free last year as a new subscriber. When I got the notice that it would be $37.49 a month to renew, I wasn't that interested so I called to cancel. I wasn't even intending to negotiate. However, the rep asked me if I would be willing to pay $7.49 a month instead of $37.49. That offer was too good to pass up so I accepted. I'm pretty sure anyone who asks can get that deal.

how many months do you pay $7.49,what was your total cost

hr20,hdmi to living room, componant mirred to office,h20kit hdmi, bedroom mine r15,bedroom daughters h20,other d10,slimline dish mounted on back of house,18 in.round (spare),on 3ft pipe in ground watered by dog daily.ota on roof.

Wow, that seems like a really good deal to me, especially considering they drop-shipped the equipment that you want. I am out of my commitment and most of my discounts are dropping off. I want to upgrade to the HR44, but I am not sure if they are in the area yet. If I could replicate this deal, that would be awesome. Especially since I want ST again this year as well. What did you say to get them to actually ship you the specific hardware that you wanted?

Isn't anyone worried about the sequester?

As a federal employee, you can bet your sweet bibby I am!  Starting next month I'm looking at a 20% pay cut, plus we haven't had a pay raise in 3 years.  Unless I can grab a great deal, the ST will have to be kicked to the curb.

I did inquire about whether I could request an HR44 and was told it would be a Genie.  Which we all know could've been a 34 as well.  DTV does have a large office just north of where I live, not sure if that played a role in getting a HR44.  I think I was just lucky TBH.

When do we think they will auto bill this year?  Mid-July?

I checked my bill and the $0.00 FYI it's coming up charge was just posted to my recent activity.  My guess is I'll get hit 7/14 with the full charge.

06/14/2013   NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX 2013 HD - Charge $0.00 $0.00 06/14/2013   NFL SUNDAY TICKET MAX 2013 - Charge $0.00 $0.00

My plan is to usually call just before they auto bill, and attempt to cancel and it's usually discounted.

I'm surprised that it's already near late July and this thread isn't 30 pages long like it usually is

Is it still early or has everyone just cancelled?

i've been with DTV for 3+ years... last year I got Max for $150... but a majority of the time I just ended up watching Red zone, prior to calling i was out of contract

When I called I said cancel my service to get to retentions..... After explaning I wanted to reduce my bill and saying some of their competitors had nice offers to get me to switch providers...... I got offered $30 in bill credits for an entire year provided I sign a 12 month agreement.... I then proceeded to ask if there were any specials on Sunday Ticket Max and was told I could have it for $147, I only wanted Redzone this year, so I told him i apprecaited that offer but it was still more than i wanted to spend..... I then asked if it would be possible to get just the redzone channel... initially the CSR said that couldn't be done.... but I politely persisted, he put my on hold for a min and came back and said he could give me redzone for free..... so I was happy with the $30 off my bill and free redzone.... once my 12 month agreeement expires I will probably be calling them again in 2014 to get redzone channel for free again.

as cool as the genie sounds... i dont want to be locked in to another 2 year agreement with DTV...

I've been with D* for 14 years now, and always had ST.

Paid full boat for it until about 3 years ago.

Last year I got a killer deal with a free Genie, Free ST Max, and monthly credits in return for a two year contract.

This past April I got laid off and placed my service in temp suspension.

I just got a new job and plan on turning service on again (REALLY missed my D*)

I don't know how to deal with D* for ST this year.

Suggestions?

I imagine your monthly credits have ran out and you should be good to go.  As long as your payments were on time I think you can get a deal.  How long was your service suspended for?

Not sure if it's just the way you worded this or if it's a common misconception but the 2 year agreement is required with any equipment upgrade.  The discounts and free ST MAX were just freebies tossed in for you.  Tenure has it's advantages.
