Contemplating buying an AM21 from D. Would it be safe to put it under my HR34 or better on top. Don't have the room to put it nearby vice over/under.
Thanks for info

I have a couple and have had them under & over, but I also now notice "some dents" on their top case from being "under" too many receivers.

I keep mine under on top of my HR23s. Looks better. Does not matter there are no air ducts on the top of the AM21. See which one looks better.

Either should work but the HR34 is a pretty heavy box and no guarantees what would happen over time.
Opinions expressed by me are my own and do not necessarily reflect

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

I have 2 and both are on top of my R22s. Plus, on 1 of those setups I have a 26" LCD sitting as well.

I have a cookie cooling rack between the two boxes which permits air flow between them.

Functionally, it makes no difference whatsoever. My AM21 has been working fine while sitting underneath my HR34 in an enclosure that has only one open side since I have had both. The HR34 reports a temperature of 106° in an ambient environment of 75°. As a point of reference, my HR2x/AM21 combinations all report 10-15 degrees higher.

Mine has been under my 34 for over a year. No issues so far. The 34 has more of a flat black finish and my AM21 is glossy. I think it just looks better underneath.

I had mine on top of the HR21-100 with no apparent problems. I like having some space between the two cases, so I used some 1/2 inch spacers to further separate the two cases, helping air flow.

Now I have the AM21 on top of my samsung blu ray player, and that has caused no problems with either.
