remove movies

Is there a way to export the movies we have recorded on our dvr? and if so are they watchable on anything else.

Need more info on your setup, what receiver?

Generally with Dishonline (Dish anywhere)or an actual Slingbox you can watch anywhere on a computer or smartphone/tablet
In addition;

If you have the new Hopper, it can be watched on an external hard drive, and can be transferred to an Ipad.

If you have the first Hopper or a VIP receiver, it can be watched on an external hard drive.

You are transferring the program or movie, not making a copy. You can not transfer or copy to anything else.

I've made hundreds of DVDs of Dish/DirecTV/Cable/OTA recordings using a DVD recorder. The same can be done with a video capture card. But Sling, Dish Anywhere and transfer from the new Hopper are the easiest methods.

To "remove" them, as you say, just delete when you're done.
