While watching the evening news last night , I noticed the following.
I missed a segment and wanted to backup the live broadcast to catch what I had missed.
My Genie freezes and won't allow a rewind when live show is airing.
Any previously recorded shows fast forward or reverse just fine.
What's wrong is it me or is it the Genie ?

If you had the Genie on that channel when the missed segment aired, you should have been able to back up to it. If that was the case and it didn't work, that is not normal.

But if you had just tuned to the channel after the segment aired, it won't be in the buffer.

Are you sure your viewing this on a hr34 or c31 receiver? If so then yes this is abnormal unless your trying to rewind to a time prior till when you were on the channel. Otherwise if your watching tv on an HD box connected to genie this is completely normal since HD boxes can only pause/ rewind previously recorded content from a genie or other hddvr.
