Are you talking about how the link is abbreviated with "..." in the middle?  I think that is intentional so as not to have broken links due to breaking across lines on long URLs.  You can always have your clickable text be something else like:

Defiance Guide Data is a mess

Not sure I like how if you click on "link" in the reply box menu, you don't get the option to change the wording of the link.  It just posts the link (like above).

You have to do it manually it seems, if you want the result that Stewart posted.

Yeah... you have to have your alternate text typed first...  though you may be able to hit the light-switch and go into code-mode and fix it there if you want alternate text after-the-fact.

One way to do it without the light switch ...
Type what you want the link to read.
Highlight those words.
Click the link button in the bottom row above the edit window.
Enter the link.

This is a link

Type your text.  If you want THIS to link.  Then highlight the words you want to be the link and then click the chain link image to enter the URL.  Done.

Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but seems easy enough.

I see what it's doing, but don't like it!  If I copy/paste a URL, that's what should happen.

Just the URL?  Then the URL will be come a link and if it is long, it will shorten it.
