Veveo in parternership with DirecTV is developing an mobile platform app that can be used with a broadband internet connection on HD DVRs that will allow customers to do predictive searches for programs and DirecTV On Demand using their voice. The concept is pretty much the same as Apple's Siri, however it can be argued it is engineered better than Siri. You can say, "Find me all movies starring Megan Fox" and a list on the TV screen as well as on the mobile device app itself will show the results.

If the sample screenshot is going to be what is similar to the finish product, you will notice it looks very similar to a Siri Search.

Sample Screenshot of what it might look like (Now Of course, it isn't going to recommend anything from Amazon or Netflix, but will have titles on the screen available to watch on DirecTV....which is why I put sample ;) )".

Another app that I will download and will join the other ones that never get used.  Useless.

As long as they advertise it, it won't be useless to some people. I get calls where people are looking for what channel a game comes on and I am like you really waited on hold when you could of used the smart search and got your answer in like two minutes? If they do not advertise useful features they have like the iPad remote control, the customer is not going to know about it. That is when it becomes useless.

So what is the difference between this new (forth coming) and the current DirecTV (iPad, iPhone app) when it comes to searching?

This one will be a virtual assistance utilizing your voice. "The application will use a natural language user interface to answer questions, make recommendations, as well as perform various actions when a user has their hd dvr reciever connected over a broadband internet connection. It will also adapt to the customer's individual preferences over a period of time which will personalize results, and perform tasks such as finding recommendations for shows, movies, and etc". Other than that I am unsure. Im not even sure if this is only for the Genie to go along with their new geniego rebrand. Its cloudy at the moment.

And here comes from "personalized" advertisements….   I knew there was something behind it.

You can't really say as it hasn't been released yet. Hopefully the search works correctly. Like someone says Fockers or XXX (Vin Diesal film) and a porno doesn't pop up in the search results lol

If anyone has other information about this, I would enjoy hearing from you. Like alot of the things I get are from my own research outside of DirecTV (much thanks to satguys and other resources) as I like to be on the A game before we are notified If you know anything post away! :)
