I have been a customer for just over one year and was wondering when is the best time to get any free or discounted prices on equipment upgrades. Looking  to get a HR44 or HR34.

Thanks for any help on this.

If you've maintained a sparkling payment record and you subscribe to a higher end package, I would expect that you should be able to swing some manner of deal after your commitment is up.  If you're going minimal with everything or have been late on payments, I would expect that they will thank you for being a valued customer.

In either case, you have a little less than a year to go before you should make your push.

You most likely won't get any real offers until you are closer to 20-24 months into your 2 year contract.

Although, if you have had the protection plan since you signed up with DirecTV you may be eligible for an upgrade due to it once the protection plan changes go into effect on May 16th I believe (or somewhere arounf that date).

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

If you have been with them for a year you could try.  Just dont expect the offers to be as good as they would if you were near the end or out of  contract.

If you get the protection plan for 7.99, starting May 16 you can get a free upgrade every two years. You may possibly already have the protection plan. It is a great option that also allows for free service calls, unlimited dish alignments, free remote control replacements, and covers shipping to send out technical related replacements. With the PP every two years is a good time to upgrade! :D

as they others have said, the ball is in your court when you don't have a contract.

Regardless, the offers might not be as "sweet" as someone with a "squeaky clean" record, but when it comes down for that CSR to push that "cancel" button, they are going to do "as much as they can" so the CSRs saves their "save" numbers

Big difference…lol

I would call DirecTV and see what kind of offers they have for you.  It does not hurt to ask.

was this the first  deal? front line CSRs don't have much power but to follow the script.  other departments, if you are willing to play the "CSR roulette" might yield better results.
