With a SWM-16 install.. Is there as much of a requirement to have SCC over CCS going from the SWM to the dish? I am looking to buy cable for my install and obviously CCS is cheaper... the PI will be right next to the SWM16 and the distance from the dish to the SWM16 will be about 100ft
For 100 feet you'd "probably" be OK. CCS has 4x the resistance that SCC has, but with the tiny LNB current you lose maybe 1.5v on the 18v lines, and fraction of a volt on the lower current 13v lines. In a legacy install where receivers are providing the voltages you had to be more careful about using SCC since some receivers might have already provided low voltages to start with as the power supply aged and became weaker. A SWM16 is likely to provide more accurate voltages so you should have more room to drop a little voltage.
Anyway, how much are you really saving buying CCS instead of SCC? Looking at my favorite place to order stuff (summitsource.com) pricing out 500 ft of burial grade cable I see a price of difference of only $45. Less if you don't need to bury (though I assume you do)
