School Says Deaf Boy's Name Sign Looks Too Much Like a Gun

Hunter Spanjer says his name with a certain special hand gesture, but at just three and a half years old, he may have to change it.

"He's deaf, and his name sign, they say, is a violation of their weapons policy," explained Hunter's father, Brian Spanjer.

This country is going to Hell. It needs a enema inserted in all levels of government (local, state, and federal). Enough already!   :nono2:

How about a compromise. He parents tells him that his name is Hunter Spanjer, but you should sign it as FU.

Well, I'm not sure it's a major victory, but at least enough people cared in the case to share their outrage quickly and forced the school to back down.

If they had named him Gunner, would he even have been allowed to go to school at all?

Who knows, stories can turn back to current, like the guy who named one of his kids Adolf and another Aryan Nation and recently showed up at a visitation hearing in full uniform....

This was a valid issue a year ago...  What is the reason for bringing up an old issue if not just to stir the pot?  Is there a new development on this story?

I agree it was silly and poorly handled... but the time to discuss it was last year, before they solved it... right?

Since the linked article was last edited Aug 29, 2012, there isn't a compelling reason to discuss it here.
