Although I only use one DirecTV box, DirecTV offer me upgrade to the Genie model and I took it.  Install went perfectly & I like the Genie.  How much will my monthly bill go up?   Remember, Genie is only box I have.

It is waaaay too late to be asking that question.

The hardware cost should be  $25 (Advanced Receiver Fee) going forward.  Depending on what you had (SD vs HD and DVR vs non-DVR), it may be a $25 monthly increase.  Best case is somewhere around $7/month more (if your old receiver was an HD DVR).

I'm pretty sure the Genie scores the Advanced Receiver Fee even if it is the only box.

If you run a test on the online sign-up tool, it appears that the Advanced Receiver Fee applies to a lone HD DVR as well.

What did you have, specifically, before the upgrade?

didn't DirecTV disclosed the new charges, if any, when you placed the order?

He very well may not have an increase. Laxguy has asked the most important question.

But, with only one box, the Genie is no different fee wise than an HR20.

My previous box was 24-100. They have me a new style remote. Quite different than the old one. They had a small folder with tips and tricks, but did not leave a new manual.

If it was an HR24, the monthly fees are the same, since you already had DVR, HD etc. The normally required Whole Home fee is waived.

The differences don't warrant a manual of its own, they just added them to the HD DVR manual.

Plenty of resources and such here as well.

Since its the only box you have it they shouldn't charge you anything, monthly lease fee wise(unless you add another receiver than its $6 lease fee) since the primary receiver they waive the lease fee which is included on the channel package, other than the $10 DVR fee,HD fee and $3 Whole Home Service if you have it.
