Comcast does not carry Universal Sports (SD or HD) in any of its markets. It also does not carry Chiller or Cloo, which it owns outright through NBCU, and it does not carry FearNet (which it partially owns) in many of its markets outside of On Demand.

I have t had Comcast since 2010, but back then they had it. It was a subchannel of ch 10 WCAU Philly. 10.3 on ClearQAM or mid to upper 200's with a box. Granted that was years ago.

The Universal Sports sub channel is gone. They discontinued that and went to a standard cable/fee model. I used to have it via a local in DC, as well.

Yes, NBC had Universal Sports on its owned and operated stations like WCAU in Philadelphia and WRC in DC. It then switched to being a cable channel, which DirecTV and Dish added. Now Time Warner Cable/Bright House Networks, Cox and Verizon FiOS have added it in the last month, but that's the first it's really been carried by cable companies in its new form.

Universal Sports was on a subchannel of WADL, ch. 38, whose prime ch. 38-1 is an independent, in the designated marketing area of Detroit, Michigan.

In the beginning, Universal Sports was shown as a sub channel primarily, but not exclusively, on NBC affiliates in most markets.  In the Raleigh Durham DMA it was on WNCN 17.2.  DirecTV added Universal Sports for the coverage of the 2009 Vuelta a Espana in place Versus. This was during the period from September 1, 2009 and March 15, 2010 when Versus had been pulled from DirecTV because of the contract dispute with Comcast.  Universal Sports returned to DirecTV full time on June 15, 2011.  At that time, DirecTV was the only outlet, other than as a sub channel, for Universal Sports.  Between September 12, 2011 and January 1, 2012, Universal Sports was phased out as a sub channel.  Dish added Universal Sports on February 26, 2012.

Universal Sports HD was launched in March, 2012, but until September 1, 2013, when it was added in HD by many TWC markets, it was only carried in HD by a few (perhaps only one) small cable companies.  TWC is the first major carrier to have added Universal Sports HD.

As bad as SD is on DirecTV, during the time that Universal Sports was available on both DirecTV and  WNCN 17.2, the PQ on DirecTV was far better than the PQ on 17.2.  Universal Sports was the most overly compressed subchannel I had ever seen.

Same with channel 4 in DC. Not only was it compressed but somehow there was a line (screen shrunk?) on the sub channel.

Oh it was BAD! I remember that, but it was 17-3. An OTA-only friend STILL complains about the loss of USN on WNCN. His TV is small and the PQ issues aren't as noticeable.

Ditto, but I haven't seen or heard anything to suggest that more HD is coming anytime soon.

When Style turns to Esquire, do you think it's going to remain in that top package?

Spoke to someone in the Sports programming department, for Directv last night.  He was telling me that there won't probably be to much more coming for a while, because of the bandwidth squeeze.  With Sunday Ticket, Center Ice and League Pass all up and running, it makes it tight on bandwidth.  Until the next bird is operational, this is what we have to work with.

He might be right about possibly no additions, but his logic is flawed. A very large majority of CI & LP are simply remaps of RSNs and don't require extra bandwidth.

If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.
