The other day I had my son's H25 replaced by a HR24.. Now this is where I get confused...

I have a HR23 in the living room, it is set to whole home activated and allow everywhere. It shares up to the HR24 just fine, but, any recordings on the 24 will not share down to the 23..I have reset the 24, the 24 is set to allow everything.

The 23 is playing nice, but the 24 is staying mum..

I would start by doing a Menu Restart on both receivers.  That should get everything going.

Is this a SWiM setup?

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

Check the playlist options on the HR23...it may be set to "Local only"

Also you might try refreshing your H25 services at www.directv.com/resend

That might be a little hard for him to do, since the H25 was replaced by the HR24

A few weeks ago, I had a similar situation with my HR24 and HR22.  The playlists from both DVRs were showing up on the HR22, but the HR22 playlist was not showing up on the HR24.  As it turns out the solution to getting things working was quite simple.  Evidently, over time, one of the cables (I cannot recall which one) had worked itself slightly loose.  As soon as I re-tightened it to a finger-tight level, the missing playlist showed up again.  I can't say with certaintly that this is your issue, but a quick check of the cable connections might be worth a shot.

UPDATE:

I went back to the beginning and worked one peice at a time.. I started with the 23, made sute Whole Home was authorized and all 3 settings were set to yes. Did a remote - reset. Once the 23 was back online did the same procedure on the 24.

When all was done, both DVRs are talking to one another, sharing playlists. Both DVRs also show up on the GenieGo app.

Lesson learned, do not play with the settings page unless you know what you are doing...
