Is there any word on which package FXX will be in?  I googled around quite a bit and found no answer.  Something tells me FX wouldn't intentionally cut out many of its viewers by putting popular shows out of reach for many DirecTV viewers.  Anticipating a potential answer: I don't think it matters which package Fox Soccer is in because surely there would be a new package decision. FXX will be a new network, much more like FX than like Fox Soccer.

Related question, out of curiosity - does anyone know what the financial impact on DirecTV is from FX going to FX+FXX+FXM?  They got the carriage dispute worked out, thankfully, and I would hate to see another one crop up because of new channels.  I'm curious if FX splitting into three networks is a windfall for DirecTV or has minimal impact.

The Wikipedia entry states that the DirecTV channel is 619.  So I guess when it replaces Fox Soccer it will remain in whatever package 619 is in now.

DirecTV since '96, Waivers for ABC, CBS, NBC, & Fox, HR23-700 & HR24-500/AM21, using ethernet based MRV.

The rebrand/relaunch of FXM shouldn't have any financial impact, since DirecTV already carries the channel -- although there could well be some behind-the-scenes machinations (on either side) to get it upgraded to HD.

My semi-educated guess is that FXX will end up being in the same packages that FX is in.

Have you seen any announcement. About it? I thought they where negotiating that with fs1 as that's a major programming change for that channel as well.

It was announced months ago and has been talked about in several places on dbstalk.com.

I believe the question is "will it be carried"?

It seems natural to assume that FXX will just continue in the place of FSC ... but with the fuss over FS1 needing a separate new contract than Speed such an assumption seems premature.

Other than the opening press release claiming 74 million homes (which is similar to the FS1 press release) have there been any announcements that the planned general entertainment non-sports channel FXX will have carriage on DirecTV or any other provider (replacing the specialty sports soccer channel FSC)?

And the question was answered, yes.

Since I guess no one believes anything unless it comes with a mountain of proof:

There was a DirecTV tweet this week that FS1 would be carried ... so I suppose the media reports that the deal was not done are false?

Yes, a mountain a proof is important in today's world.

"Fox has not yet officially confirmed that the channel will be replacing Fox Soccer, though according to several media outlets, Fox officials have confided that is indeed the plan."
Or from the original source:
"The launch of FXX this September was announced this morning, but we have nothing to announce today about FOX Soccer,' said a FOX Sports spokesperson."

FXX is replacing Fox Soccer Channel (also FOX Sports 1 is replacing Speed).  Because both channels are vastly different in scope, new carriage deals must be negotiated.  So far, neither DISH nor DTV (or TW for that matter) have struck such deals.  If they don't, FOX will likely provide loops of old programming and so forth to those who have not signed on, much as they did with the Nat Geo flap a while back.

Or even after, it seems. Fox had a press release early on that said that FS1 was going to be on in 72 million homes at launch. Then the lack of deals came out.
