It may be due to some big storms in Wyoming.

I'm not sure exactly where the uplink center is, but Cheyenne is getting pounded right now.

Yep, huge thunderstorms are training over the Cheyenne, WY area, so don't worry about your local equipment.

In particular, this is happening over DISH's uplink center right now:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHEYENNE HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...
SOUTHERN GOSHEN COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST WYOMING...
NORTHEASTERN LARAMIE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST WYOMING...

* UNTIL 400 PM MDT

* AT 322 PM MDT...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE
EXTENDING FROM 9 MILES WEST OF HAWK SPRINGS RECREATION AREA TO 9
MILES SOUTHEAST OF CHUGWATER...AND MOVING SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH.

HAZARD...QUARTER SIZE HAIL.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED.

IMPACT...DAMAGE TO VEHICLES IS EXPECTED.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
LA GRANGE AND MERIDEN REST AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A
BUILDING.

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IS OCCURRING WITH THESE STORMS...AND MAY LEAD TO
FLASH FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS!

It's that last bit in particular that's causing problems.

Radar is showing a couple more cells moving in, so it may drop out again.

My receiver registered a lost lock on my System Info Screen at 5:58 PM EST.  Now I see why.

Saw several problems last night... but nothing happening here... so I kind of figured there must have been some uplink weather going on.

I went out on me, watching something, went outside checked cables/things. Came back inside, looked at signal strengths slowly coming up from nothing, marching upward, then knew it NOT my equipment but sats or something else.

Hard to believe those huge 30m dishes can be blocked by anything short of a tornado! Itty-bitty rain, wimps!!! :)

I can understand how this can be frustrating and I am more than happy to help! Did the programming return? If not, please PM me with the phone number on the account and the error message number on the top right to better assist you.

Thanks

Same thing happened to me in Cleveland.  I though it was weird that the locals came in but none of the other channels on 129.

It cleared up in a few minutes.

Me too.  Looks like very strong storms in the Cheyenne area right now.  Nothing in my area except way to the northeast, which wouldn't affect my reception.

Yeah, I just noticed the dropout and checked radar.  Nasty cell out that way.  Severe Thunderstorm Warning

I'm surprised dish doesn't have back up locations for when storms hit like that to keep this from being a national issue.

Out here in Medford, Oregon, I was having satellite reception issues. I thought it may have been because of a tree obstruction. I actually cut off a few tree branches.  I lost my signal around 4:20 PM Pacific Time while I was watching Mr. Magoo cartoons on the KTV Network (Channel 264).

I lost total signal at 6:20 central time today....same time you lost in Oregon at 4:20 Pacific time.    My system check tells me I have LNB drift.  It shows my Dish 500 with a single LNB for Sat 129. with -12 on LNB drift.   I guess I buy another single LNB.... if I can fine one.

They do have backup but it would take more time to switch over than a storm outage lasts.
