I want to open my HR34 case so I can do some hard drive diagnostic work. The drive appears to be failing and although I can get a new receiver, the content of the current receiver will be lost.

I've examined it closely and cannot be sure of the correct technique to avoiding damaging it. I suspect  that multiple bottom case tabs must be manipulated together, but I may be completely wrong and the front panel needs to be removed so that the cover will slide off.

Can anyone help?

Do you own it or is it a lease? Most if not all are a lease and you cant open them.

Since that is against DirecTV policies we can't advice here. sorry

I'm really sorry we can't help you because it violates the DIRECTV TOS and the site rules.
