Curios what option you all use in the search screen. And do you only ever use one option, or which one do you use the most often?

I only use smart search,I rather let Genie earn her keep.

But the real poll question should be "Do you watch tv like Al Bundy"

Smart Search. I sometimes search by Movie genre because Smart Search takes too long to setup to get the same results.

Smart Search, though I much prefer the faster internet searches I can do on my PC, iPad or iPhone.

Problem is those apps don't allow me to verify a recording actually got set up on the DVR I selected. A % of the time I'll get a confirmation e-mail only to find the recording never got set-up on the DVR. :(

Not really sure any of those options fit my search usage.

Since it costs 2.4¢ to produce a penny, my 2¢ worth is really 4.8¢ worth.  That 4.8¢ is my own and not the 4.8¢ of DIRECTV, Dish, or anyone else for that matter.

This is confusing. The only option I see (And have ever seen) is Smart Search and that rarely works for what I use it for. I am hoping the new Sports app-type-thing that is testing is a real sports search when it is done. Smart search is far from smart in regards to sports.

DIRECTV: Genie (HR34) w/AM21 and 1 client.
AT&T: U-Verse Internet, Motorola modem and Samsung Galaxy S3 cell.

Denon AVR591, Panasonic Blu Ray, Magnavox DVD player, Philips VCR, Terk HDTVo.

I see them, but they don't do anything. I have been sitting here for over 8 minutes waiting for it to find something but it just says "searching for matching programs. this may take a minute." I could have scrolled through the guide looking for a movie 5 times by now.

Smart search doesn't find games that I can watch. If i want to see all live sports that are on now and will be on later that I can watch, it doesn't. After you wait for it to finish (10-15 minutes) it shows EVERYTHING sports related. I do not care about repeat games, pre-game, post-game, talking heads, etc. I want to see games that I can watch on all channels that I get. If the game is blacked out, the search should not find it. If the game is on a channel not in my package, it should not find it. That is all I could ever fathom using search for.

Update: 12 minutes, still nothing.

Previously, someone told me about boolean search, but I did not find that to work. It filtered out the 700s channels but nothing else.

Smart Search only (although I still don't think it's that smart)

I'm sure Directv can't wait to get their hands on your unit.

Don't use that feature.  Only use "search for upcoming episodes".
