I have an HR34, and an HR24, SWM setup and of course Whole Home set up and everything works perfectly,7 tuners between the two units and they see each other just fine. I also have an old HD Tivo (guest room) set to use one tuner, and it is connected to the legacy port on my SWM switch. I am thinking of retiring (finally) the old Tivo and replacing it with a C31 or C41. Now the question; will the C31/C41 see both units, or will it only see the Genie (I realize that I will have to move the connection from the legacy port to the other port on the SWM-8, or will I have to go with a standard HR receiver box?

Yes, the C31/41 will see both playlist, but will only record on the Genie

I just switched out an H23 for a C31 and love it!  The guide is a little slower and I miss the scrolling effects.  But the trick play is much quicker and it's great having access to everything on the HR34(Series Links, YouTube, etc.).  Overall perfect for my needs.

The C41 is way faster than the C31.

The C41 is way faster than the C31.

The way I understand it the C31 and C41 are about the same speed.  The difference in speed comes from which Genie they are paired with.  A C31 and C41 paired with an HR34 are both going to be a little sluggish, but if either one is paired with an HR44 they are much more responsive.

Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

Ehhh... You can definitely see a slight difference in speed between the C31 and C41 whether they are connected to a HR34 or HR44.

That is new information to me.  I thought all the hardware inside was exaclty the same except for the RF remote circuitry?  Why would there be any difference in speed if that were the case?  Or do they actually use different hardware?

Not sure, but my C31 definitely had a bit of a lag over my C41, not that the C31 was slow. Very similar to the difference in speed between the HR34 and HR44.

My C31 was VERY slow.  Regardless of which it was connected to.  I got rid of the 31.  My 41 does not seem to show any difference whether it connects to a 44 or a 34.

I'm of the impression that the remote itself is - or allows- faster interaction with the client or master...

Well, I have been pretty impressed with the speed of the C31. If the 41 is faster that's great. But I can't see it much faster. Thus is plenty fast for me. I also like the speed of the HR34 too. I think it's faster then my HR 24.
