Eastern arc issues as of 8:00pm EDT

Best Answer Stewart Vernon , 06 September 2013 - 06:16 PM

Oops...  I had some script blocking working against me when I was trying to check weather...  Looks like some storm activity in Cheyenne, WY after all... which would explain why everything is out except for the LiLs... since those are locally uplinked in the DMA.

Guess we get to play the waiting game to see when the weather clears up there... some intermittent reverse-glitches of signal... and now I seem to have ESPN2HD again...  here's hoping we are in the clear and working for the night again!

edit: Seems to be stable at 8:20pm EDT... hope it stays that way.

Almost exactly at 8:00pm EDT eastern arc seems to have gone kablooey.

I still have my LiLs... but nothing else.  Every other channel that I try (except for LiLs) seems to have gone poof on 61.5 and 72...  I can't find evidence of weather at an uplink location, unless I'm looking in the wrong places... so not sure what the issue is.

Yep, exact same issue here. Tried technical phone support and I keep getting disconnected.

The chat online queue is currently over 1000+. I guess this is a national issue.

Looks like it is starting to come back....  I had unplugged the receiver and it appears to be connecting again.  Now waiting for the program guide...

Went out to check the dish to see if something had moved it. We are back now.

The storm affecting the uplink must have been in just the wrong place for the path up to Eastern Arc.
Western arc satellites are more of a straight up shot than a long way east.

I missed any outage ... and with locals unaffected (most uplinked from a regional center in Chicago, Virginia or Texas - among other sites) PTAT should be fine.

Yeah, I never saw a hint of a glitch on the LiLs... and once everything came back at the time of my earlier post, I never saw signal loss again.

I am wondering, though...  I've seen this a few time in recent years... but way back when I first signed up for Dish I can't remember having any outages except local-weather-induced ones.  I can't believe there wasn't any weather all that time... so maybe there is something to the notion that their uplink angle to eastern arc is more susceptible to problems than the western arc uplink.

I was on western arc back when it was the only arc... and have only been on eastern arc for slightly less than 2 years now.

That would explain the glitch I saw on my recording of the NASCAR Nationwide race last night (from ESPN).  There was no weather locally that could have caused what looked like a rain-fade situation.

I didn't experience any more problems after that 20 minute period last night...  I wasn't awake at 11am this morning to verify, but it has been working ever since I woke up today.

I've seen cases where Western Arc went out completely nationally as well - rare events indeed.
