Apple TV software refresh arrives with iOS 7 on September 18th

Though it was all about the iPhones during Apple's big event yesterday, Apple TV is about to receive an overhaul soon as well, according to AllThingsD. It'll arrive on September 18th, the same day as iOS 7, according to sources familiar with Apple's plans.

There's no mention of what changes are in store, although the same source believes that Apple TVs will be able to play other users' content via AirPlay.

Maybe they are holding off until the servers are not getting slammed with iOS7 updates for all the iPhones/iPads??

No update as this AM. Right now just want to see iRadio show up since the Apple site says that it's supposed to be on Apple TV.

I think it was smart of them to hold off. The upgrade servers were clogged enough.

Nothing yet here in LA either for Apple TV..  :hair:

I was also looking forward to iOS 7 on my iPod Touch, only to find that I have a 4th generation Touch and the update only applies to the 5th generation model.  :eek2:

I did get the latest version of iTunes for my computer and can play iTunes Radio on the computer as well as send it to my HD TV through Apple TV over my home network.

Downloaded and installed on Apple TV this afternoon. Device recognized the two iTunes Radio stations I had already created in iTunes on my desktop computer.

Very nice!

I haven't checked mine...  I saw the buzz about it so I figured I needed to check later tonight and see.

Update: Apple TV 6.0 quietly pulled following bricked updates, connectivity issues

If you haven't already updated your Apple TV to version 6.0, you'll have to wait: Cupertino has discreetly pulled the software upgrade.

Although no official statement has been made, users on Twitter have been reporting connectivity issues and accidental resets throughout the weekend. An unlucky few even saw their devices bricked entirely. Now, manually checked boxes report that version 5.3 is "up to date."

There's no word yet when a more stable version of the software will be available for download, but when it is, it should bring users the AirPlay from iCloud support (for devices running iOS 7) and iTunes Radio access Apple promised on Friday.

I updated my 2nd gen Apple TV yesterday afternoon. I had it lock up after the initial update, but after I rebooted it, it's been fine.

Kind of unusual for that kind of experience with Apple. They usually have fairly trouble free upgrades.

Kids here have been using the updated ATV for 2 days now with no issues. I guess I just jinxed them by posting that. :P

My ATV2 is fine and it is good to play music from the cloud without having the computer on.

I have to get a micro USB cord and attach my AppleTV to iTunes to restore it.  I am not happy...  There are a lot of people who posted in the Apple forums that had the same thing happen.  They aren't happy either.
