I haven't tried it, but it's possible that the GenieGo client will be disabled if not on the home network for 30 days -- pretty much as the CSR says.

There have been lots of glitches in authentication but they have really stressed the 30 day expiration so I wouldn't doubt it.

My daughter has been gone for 27 days now (left on 8/17) (or is that 28 because of 31 days in August??).

So I'll know in a few days whether her iPad is disabled.  She doesn't have any shows on it; only uses it for OOH.

It wouldn't be surprising if DirecTV has to limit OoH viewing, due to contract stipulations with content providers.

Let us know!

I'd bet she's hosed. . . you'd have to admit that it wasn't designed for that use.  Although if I traveled a lot, I'd probably be home within a 30 day period.

We'll see shortly.  But if they do disable it after 30 days of not being linked to the home network, it won't be a big issue for us.

She goes to school about 1.5 hours away and last year came home about every three weeks. She was home last weekend, but didn't have her iPad with her.

So not much of a problem for us -- but for the TS who has a daughter with a laptop 5 hours away, different story.

32 days now. I talked with her this afternoon. Her GenieGo on the iPad is still working fine using OOH.

Note: She did tell me when she came home a couple of weeks ago she did have her iPad, but she didn't use GenieGo while at home.  What I don't know is whether it was running in the background and it 'reset' the 30-day clock then.
