According to the Guide, Playboy moving from 560 to 580, with the other channels (PB2, PB-Spanish) following in sequence.

I'm guessing that they received enough complaints about adult oriented programming being in the middle of more mainstream/family fare that they decided to move it further down.

This is great news. I have adult channels hidden but itr's rather disgusting for those who don't to see that in the middle of "real" channels.

I still do not see what difference it makes where a channel is placed.  If you do not want to see it in the guide, hide it.  It is not that difficult.

Given that last night there was a movie called "Amy's Orgasm" on FLiX I don't see that as being a concern

Maybe FXX can move at the same time. I completely forget that it's there. I don't understand why people like channels scattered all over the place. I suggest posters who disagree with that to go visit a friend with cable and deal with the haphazard, incoherent lineups they offer. My local Fox 8 is channel 1125 on cable and no one can tell me why. I will say that Time Warner has made an effor to fix the incoherent channel order, but the locals are all over the place. ALso, HD and SD are separate channels which makes no sense. Comcast is a disaster. Channel order is VERY important to most people.

Most people are too lazy to make the effort. Thus why you have people forcing tv shows and stations to remove "naughty" things like cursing or sexual themed stuff instead of actually being a good parent and removing/hiding the channel. All of us responsible adults have to suffer because alot of parents are too lazy to actually block things on tv so they force tv stations to be the parent instead and remove it entirely.

It's not that we like them scattered, we just don't care or see the fuss of having them all together.  The channels you may feel make sense next to each other may not make sense to anyone else.  That's why we have the ability to create favorte channel lists.

ALso, HD and SD are separate channels which makes no sense. Comcast is a disaster. Channel order is VERY important to most people.

A lot of it is just how the plant and set tops were designed when digital first started rolling out and HD was limited to HDNet, iNHD, locals, HBO and ESPN. The stock firmware for most set tops are based on code from the late 90s and do not support seperate remaps for HD and SD, the providers that did do it had to do it with custom firmware. Cablevision has it and Time Warner is rolling out an update that will do the remap, I'm not sure about Comcast's plans.

Also, not everyone prefers the HD channel all the time, which is a nightmare on Cablevision where you don't have an option between the SD and HD feed. For example if you want to watch Married with Children or Fresh Prince on TBS or any other pre-HD content on a Turner channel you are stuck with stretch-o-vision or cropping when it comes to Discovery's networks. Then of course you have the wasted HD space if you record these shows on the HD feed instead on SD feed.

Good news.  Still believe that the Adult On Demand icon needs to go also.  DTV should have never put this programming in a slot with standard programming.  Not condemning anyone's viewpoint but if DTV really wanted to sell porn then they should have combined it with their sports programming.  Nothing like watching porn and football.

HBO and Cinemax show softcore porn during late night hours and alot of their original series like Game of Thrones shows full on nudity (both male and female). Its not like Playboy was next to Hallmark and ABC Family.

The profit margins on porn helps keep the profit margins on other services low.

Just block adult channels and be done with it.

While I agree with customizing your channel lineup so as not to see those channels, I am appreciative of D* for listening and moving the channels.  No problem with both things happening.  Win-win.

I remember in the early days of Playboy, for the cable TV system in Louisville, the only package that had Disney also had Playboy.  There was no way to subscribe to one without subscribing to the other.  We survived!

I agree on the lazy, but really....why wouldn't you group like programming in the same block?  Secondly, there are responsible, not lazy parents out there that don't live on this board that would find out about one of these changes from their son or daughter, not Directv, the lousy communicator of the stuff we really need to know.
