Yesterday i had an HR44-500 installed and added Whole Home DVR with my HR24. I'm very impressed with the "Genie" so far but have they eliminated the "30 Second Skip"  or does it need to be programmed in like the old days. What I have seems to be "30 second slip". Thanks in advance.

Yes, skip works if you set it up with the keyword search.  You might also run the "  iamanedgecutter  " without quotes, search.
