My current setup consists of one HR34 & two HR24 HD DVRs for a total of 9 tuners. I am using the SWM LNB (ODU) integrated with the dish that supports 8 tuners. I have one of the HR24s configured in single tuner mode with no issues. My question is that if I add an AM21 to the HR24 in single tuner mode will I be able to record one channel off of the AM21 (OTA) and one off the satellite at the same time? Or watch one channel on the AM21 tuner (OTA) and record one of the satellite tuner at the same time?

Sounds logical, but I don't have experience with the AM21.

I have a similar setup, though.
HR44 Genie (5 tuners), HR24 (2 tuners), HR20 (1 tuner).
The HR20 has built-in OTA ability, and I can confirm that it is possible to do both of the questions you ask.

It allows 2 simultaneous recordable or watchable tuners, whether it's 2 OTA or 1 OTA and 1 SAT.

What doesn't work: 2 recordings and watching a 3rd "live" program, though that doesn't work on the HR20 even when 2 Sat tuners are enabled.

I doubt it really, but not sure.  I think when you set the unit to one tuner, that means one tuner.  So one ota or one sat, I doubt they differentiate between ota and sat in that aspect, but who knows.

Yes, you definitely can do it.  I have SWM8 with an HR44-500 and two HR21-700s.  One of the HR21s is set to one tuner and has an AM21 attached.  It can record two things at once if at least one or both of them are through the AM21.
