Best Answer scottmiller , 09 November 2013 - 07:57 PM

guys, after almost 24 hr, messing with it, i figured out the problem. seems every time the system asked me to interrupt the guide download, to align the antenna, i, of course, said yes?? well, needless to say, when i did give up and let it download, low and behold, everything worked perfectly and the antenna had been aligned properly, the whole time....   I will now say, thank you for your replies and proudly accept the "dumdum" award, for the very near future...

Guys, very new to the forum, but I need some assistance with my dish alignment. I have had direct for a really long time and I just this week, got the hd receiver and swm lnb antenna. The folks at the store didnt act like lining it up would be a problem, since I set up my previous antenna. on sat 101, i have 100 % signal but sporatic transponder numbers  100,0,0,0,0,53,0,100. (9) 0,0,0,0,57,0,99,0. (17) 0,0,0,0,0,99,0,0. you get the point. sat 119 100% 11 numbers 100 and 10 zeros. sat 110 100%  3 numbers 100,0,0. 103 and 99c not acquired. Im really not having any luck, getting any results and need advice. any would help...

Exactly how is your HD Receiver connected to the SWM dish?  Do you have the proper SWM Power Inserter?  What model Receiver?

Some transponders are spot beams so when you get numbers in the 50s it is usually because you are on the edge of a spot beam.  Spot beams will also give you zeros if you are outside the spot beam.  In Salt Lake City, Utah, I get 4 transponders of 0 on 101, 4 on 119, all 16 are 0 on 99s, all 14 are 0 on 103s, 103ca and 103cb give me readings in the mid 80s, and SWM shows 9 transponders with 5 zero.

With a SWM dish, you need to remove the B-Band converters and only run a single coax to you receiver.

Are you sure you have a SWM LNB?  how many outputs on the LNB?

New problem guys.. I'm trying to troubleshoot it, but thought I would ask for some input. My direct hd has been working, flawlessly, until last Sunday. Searching for signal, 771. I ran a diagnostic test and it failed. The code showed 42-142. So I thought since I still had my old dish up there, that I would hook it to the receiver and maybe that would work. Same code. I'm going to try a different hd receiver, next wknd, but I'm thinking it's a antenna issue. What are y'all's thoughts and ideas?? I never realized how much I watch tv, until it's not working!!

Are you still getting the same signal readings as you posted on the OP?

I believe those we're all fixed with the last problem. It won't download sat data at this point, just search for signal.
