most cx do not install correctly causing problems and then blame it on directv

Do any cx change out the barrels in the wall plates?? I think not

Do cx test the coax runs?? I think not

Do cx just hook up stuff and see if ti works?? Pry yes, not having a clue if it will continue working.

This is why direct recommneds a tech out.

Could well be, on Directv's side. I'd like to hear him say that, instead of the vague "I know what I'm talking about and you don't" attitude.

Exactly what inky said...  there happy....  :righton:

Service calls do not look good on DirecTV's books regardless who was at fault. so DirecTV wants to avoid them as much as possible.

OP here.  It's been about a month since I posted but wanted to share the news.  I took everyone's advice and ordered two H25s from Solid Signal at $100/ea.  They arrived in perfect condition; they are the H25-100 model.  I installed them to my SWM without any issues.  I called D to install; all they needed was my Receiver IDs and Card numbers.   One of them came with an older version of SW but I was able to force an update by doing the "02468" trick on bootup.  Thanks for all the help.
