My Yahoo Mail was functioning early this morning. Just tried to go to my e-mail and discovered this new message......!We're experiencing some technical difficulties!      We're sorry, but Yahoo Mail can't load due to a temporary error. You can try back again shortly, or visit our help pages for ways to troubleshoot the issue......Temporary error: ymws:Server.MailboxOpenFailed.......Problem is none of the help options work. Nice going Yahoo.  :down:  :down:  :down:

I too was a little puzzled that we did not get an email well ahead of the change. A while back I added a "Yahoo Small Business Systems Status" content block to the "My Yahoo" page under the "Finance" tab which I routinely check several times a day to follow the stock market:

I added that content block when I was having trouble getting to my web site. I don't have a business, but for many years now I've used the Yahoo Small Business Systems for web hosting and email because they are cheap and reliable (see the options here). And generally they are very reliable, but like anyone running such large complex systems they do have problems.

 

But there is no excuse for not sending out an email at least 10 days prior ot making such a change.

 

As of this edit, our Yahoo mail - both that which we pay for and the free version - is working fine.

What's a Facebook / Twitter, Oh wait those are things I do not use!

Amen! I'm sick of businesses jumping on the bandwagon - "Like us on Facebook", "Follow us on Twitter". They use social networking to pass important information to their clients/customers rather than email messages.Not that I enjoy plowing through 30 or more email messages each day, but IMHO,Facebook and Twitter are internet garbage cans. :bang

For example, in my area, Yahoo has not been down at all and

is up and running at the present time.

That said, I haven't had any problems that I know of pulling messages to OperaMail.  I stopped using the web version when the Yahoos screwed things up a few weeks back and pages would not display.

I have no idea why they feel they "must upgrade our browser version of email" then make the old version unavailable - . I just want something that works damn it. And breaking the POP3/SMTP setup I had for Outlook then not saying that you needed to use the encrypted versions (thanks Phrelin ) -

 

Just "what" are they improving  ? I'm like that other posters to who I have no use for Twitter / Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. - I want email that simply works and , in most cases - webpages that simply work.

Off topic for a second again.

I would never know someone has responded to something I have said without the quote.

 

The only reason I return to a topic is if someone responds to a comment or question I have made.

And the only indication now is the little red number up by my icon at the top right.

 

While it would be best for housekeeping to clean up responses containing quotes, I do not see the reason to start a policy of not quoting the reason for a response.

And where in the forum rules does it say that? You and Nicky are like Burger King, you want things done your way. There are many features (Quote, Smiley, Like This, ect.) available for the "poster's" discretion. So unless the site logo is changed to "Nicky's DBSTalk" or "SayWhat's? DBSTalk" or Admin or a Moderator say otherwise it's really not up to the two of you to be telling other's how to post and how to use the features when posting!

For those who are wondering, apparently Yahoo had a major outage problem Tuesday morning and this morning they had some problems with the Small Business interface.

I noticed my ad free month has passed.

That was the "sorry about the outage" appeasement they passed out the last time.

It was nice to not have the flashing banners all over my screen.
