Generally speaking, it is unnecessary and redundant to quote the previous post.

Generally speaking Nicky, you would be better suited sticking to topic rather than (not then) criticizing others and being the "Grammar Police"! :sure:

If the shoe fits...

My contributions are intended to be helpful and make the site

a better place to be for all. Also, I freely indicate my general

location so that others can relate when a geographic reference

is made.

For example, in my area, Yahoo has not been down at all and

is up and running at the present time.

On the subject of unnecessarily quoting repeating previous

posts, as 'Jake Harper' of "Two and a Half Men" might have

said, '...now that's just redumbnant!'

If you wish to continue to bicker and kibbitz my posts, please

unduly suffer your silly diatribes.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. That said, the name of this thread is "Yahoo Mail Down", not "What Nicky Finds Unnecessary". Let's stay on topic.

Staying on topic is much easier when the same posts don't appear multiple times in other posts.

Quote the relevant text you're replying to.  Delete the rest.

That said, I haven't had any problems that I know of pulling messages to OperaMail.  I stopped using the web version when the Yahoos screwed things up a few weeks back and pages would not display.

I have no idea why they feel they "must upgrade our browser version of email" then make the old version unavailable - . I just want something that works damn it. And breaking the POP3/SMTP setup I had for Outlook then not saying that you needed to use the encrypted versions (thanks Phrelin ) -

Just "what" are they improving  ? I'm like that other posters to who I have no use for Twitter / Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. - I want email that simply works and , in most cases - webpages that simply work.

Off topic for a second again.

I would never know someone has responded to something I have said without the quote.

The only reason I return to a topic is if someone responds to a comment or question I have made.

And the only indication now is the little red number up by my icon at the top right.

While it would be best for housekeeping to clean up responses containing quotes, I do not see the reason to start a policy of not quoting the reason for a response.

I do appreciate the "no ads month" they are giving us now as an apology

It is a pain with the free service to click the little arrow every email to get rid of all the flashing lights

I do not see the reason to start a policy of not quoting the reason for a response.

Again, the point is to quote ONLY the part of the post you're replying to or commenting on rather than the entire post.

Like so.

And where in the forum rules does it say that? You and Nicky are like Burger King, you want things done your way. There are many features (Quote, Smiley, Like This, ect.) available for the "poster's" discretion. So unless the site logo is changed to "Nicky's DBSTalk" or "SayWhat's? DBSTalk" or Admin or a Moderator say otherwise it's really not up to the two of you to be telling other's how to post and how to use the features when posting!

Why does one need a rule to use common sense?

Why does one need a rule to use common sense?

Common sense would dictate not getting into a tissy over trivial things. Now, can we please get  :backtotop .

For those who are wondering, apparently Yahoo had a major outage problem Tuesday morning and this morning they had some problems with the Small Business interface.

I noticed my ad free month has passed.

That was the "sorry about the outage" appeasement they passed out the last time.

It was nice to not have the flashing banners all over my screen.

That's the message I've been getting for the past two days. Yahoo needs to get it's act together.

You're complaining about a free service?

Mine gave me a fit until I figured out how to stop it from Chaining ?? the emails together. Ever since I found that , it looks very similar and acts very similar to the old one.

It was interesting as I had been streaming a long youtube concert video and when it ended I attempted to do a search on yahoo and it just went nowhere. Exited the browser session and reopened and no myYahoo (my home page). google search worked as did yahoo mail as interfaced by the Apple "iDevices (phone, paid, etc). Seems a large portion of the front end web services went south there for a time. It appeared to me at least that the more critical back end services remained operable.
