AP
The longstanding agreement that gives DirecTV exclusive access to the Sunday Ticket package that gives NFL fans the ability to watch every game expires after next season. But the two sides have apparently come to terms on a new deal.

Multiple reports on Thursday say the league and the satellite TV provider have agreed to keep Sunday Ticket on DirecTV for years to come.

I see no reason to doubt it will happen again as usual.  To many reasons for both to keep the status quo on this one.

The only way that it makes sense for the NFL to take Sunday Ticket elsewhere is if they open it up to every provider. As an exclusive, nobody but D* and Dish could deliver it nationwide in HD, and I don't think Dish would pay to have an exclusive. My fear is how much the NFL will extort from D* to keep it, given what they extracted from the networks. $1 billion is a lot of beans, but I see it going up from there. We initially went with DirecTV back in the spring of 1999 because of the horrible cable service in our area.  I don't remember if NFL Sunday Ticket was part of that decision or not but I added it for the next season and I've stuck with it ever since.  As a displaced Seahawks fan, first in the DC area and now in Texas, the only way I could follow my team was to get Sunday Ticket.  If DirecTV were to lose Sunday Ticket to another provider, and I can't see where it would go to other than Dish as none of cable/land line providers have nation-wide/every community coverage, then I'd at least have to reconsider my long-term DirecTV service or at least figure out how to get Sunday Ticket with the new exclusive provider.  If it weren't an exclusive and became more like HBO, Showtime, etc., then I'd probably stick with DirecTV.

No surprise here. Same song 9th verse.

I'll repeat for the umpteenth time as long as "Over the Air networks" are involved with broadcasting the NFL there will be zero chance of Google, youtube or any other ISP provider being the Home of Sunday Ticket.

Throwing their names around in public is nothing more than a skilled ploy from the NFL.

I'd hope there is an internet component to this deal through Google or another provider...

Hopefully, Directv has negotiated as it relates to the almost-weekly blackout issue with 1pm games that are running over into 4:25 games (often the game of the week). This is especially important with the new overtime rules.

I hope they don't strike a deal. Because you know it's not going to be cheaper, and Directv going to be paying more. And for less and less games per year then ever, seems like a rip off to me. Sent from my PantechP8010 using DBSTalk mobile app

Well you are in the under 3 million crowd, there are more then 75 Million TV subscribers in the USA that don't care anything about ST, including over 90% of Directv customers.

How does not making a deal solve that? You do realize they make money on NFL ST via bars?

If that's not the biggest oxymoron there is .

Provider that makes you happy. HA! that's funny.

And I have to find a new provider because you don't agree with my comment, but I have to agree with yours?

Sorry, I don't drop to my Knees for Directv, If I don't like something, its gets heard.

So would any other provider.

It can't be streaming, that simply won't work on the scale of Sunday Ticket. If it is cable then it only works for those bars that are located where that cable company or companies are offer service. Dish is a possibility, though as I understand it, Dish's technology isn't really well designed for setups with large numbers of receivers.

As I said in the other thread about this, I expect dtv to get it again and for them to possibly sell it as a ott streaming solution to people without DIRECTV at a somewhat high rate to protect their own investment.

Dish has limtted room maybe with they kill all PPV HD (other then 1-2 for events if needed) and maybe even kill RSN HD for parts of sunday.

Cable comast does not have SDV so =

no big ten alt HD

no goal line HD

no game 3-9 HD

no team 2-9 HD

Premier League Extra Time has a VOD for live tv that fails

and limmted HBO, SHOW, MAX, starts HD.

even some SDV systems may have a hardtime doing 8-15 feeds + other local needs / others sports on some nodes.

Maybe have NFL ticket on MPEG 4 but good luck haveing the system set to flag subs as NEED MPEG 4 hardware and makeing so that the installers have the boxes on the truck for that as well saved ones if some with NFL ticket goes down.

Shaw cable has NFL ticket on MPEG  4 as well as other sports and new HD channels but you can own the box there and I think they have stop giveing out old MPEG 2 HD boxes as well.

rogers has SDV and it seems to work?? for there super sports pack.
