Here's the press release. Nest will continue under Fadell and under it's own brand identity. At least for now of course, we'll see what happens down the road.

You'll start seeing ads for filters when your Nest determines you need a new one :)

Just be glad that it wasn't Microsoft that was doing the acquiring.

When Google bought SageTv, they ripped a couple key things from it for their attempted cable service, and then killed any further innovation.  For that reason alone, I detest Google.  Its a shame, since I have a NEST, and really like it.  It can only go downhill from here.  Maybe they will make you watch a commercial before adjusting the temperature.

can't blame them, who can refuse that offer... but if there is something to learn from history is that Google will destroy destroy what once was a neat company with a bright future

History has shown that most innovative companies fail to continue to deliver innovation when they become part of large corporations.

But Google could be different as they do demonstrate innovation.  Time will tell.

The valuation is pretty interesting.

Call me paranoid, but I'm not interested in having GooGoo monitoring,

or worse, controlling anything in my home. Thanks but no thanks. :nono:
