It is part of the deal that is being worked on with Disney/ ESPN.

So if the deal is not signed, how does DISH pick up SEC Network?

I hope they don't add it.  It will be another channel that I pay for and don't watch.  Maybe they could put it on one of the Sports packages.

I'm sure it will be like Big Ten and Pac-12... in that it will be part of AT120+ in the appropriate markets (in this case, SEC market for the SEC-network) or available to everyone if subscribed to multi-sport.  That's the fairest way to handle it and the precedent has been set thus far.

This would seem to be good news towards a Dish/Disney contract... and I can't imagine any deal that lands something like SEC network without everything else (including those HD feeds we lost a while back and the ESPNUHD feed we never had)... so that would seem to all but guarantee that all the other channels are part of the deal.

What we don't know is... if the hold-up is digital/online rights?  OR if it is commercial-skip related?  I could see either or both of those being sticking points.

But... SEC-network isn't supposed to launch until August... so they have a LONG time to negotiate before then...  and now that they have spilled the beans..  Disney is going to want to make sure that August launch happens... so we can probably safely say that "soon" now has a hard line in the sand for August.  Hopefully much sooner than that, but no later than that.

There appears to be no contracted agreement yet ... perhaps an agreement in principle or an agreement to agree (which is far better than an agreement to disagree). The channel isn't added until it is added.

It does look good for DISH and SEC area customers (and others who like the SEC). BIG10, PAC12, SEC ... what's next? (Other than the rate increase this year and next.)

And the agreement to keep ESPN on the air while they work on the final agreement to keep ESPN on the air isn't a bad thing.

I haven't seen anything about Longhorn network.  While Texas does have other sports, the main driving factor seems to be football... so the pressure isn't on until next fall.

I would think that ESPN would want to have Longhorn network be part of these negotiations, though... because they are having a hard time selling Longhorn network to carriers.

I'd love to know what the package price is.  I rarely watch ESPN but I *would* watch ESPNews in HD from time to time and, with DIsney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, seeing the Star Wars-based shows coming out for Disney or Disney XD could be entertaining.

And I guess Disney Junior is finally coming to Dish Network, too!
