Or filter out the sun for a few years. Sometimes I get the feeling we're about due for one of those.

Or blow up next to where you live.

I'm hoping that won't happen in my part of the Pacific Rim. But it could....

There's always Lassen.

On May 22, 1915, a powerful explosive eruption at Lassen Peak devastated nearby areas, and spread volcanic ash as far as 200 mi (300 km) to the east.[4] This explosion was the most powerful in a series of eruptions from 1914 through 1917. Lassen Peak and Mount St. Helens are the only two volcanoes in the contiguous United States to erupt during the 20th century.

Not if we get a global freeze over, which would happen if enough particulate were injected into the atmosphere. And that'd shoot global warmists in the feet for a few centuries, too...

However, back to water shortage: Rain very welcome yesterday. Not sure how much, as main gauge wasn't cleared prior to the start. But more than a dusting of precip.....

Your water issue was reported here in the NYC area as being the worst in four hundred years, because of its effect on the nation food production. Cali produces half of America fresh veggies & fruits.

Let's move this water discussion to the California drought thread....

I wonder where the author of the article or study found out what happened prior to 1870's??

And I think Cali is a city in Colombia.
