I guess the deal is already over. I went to the site and it's back to $299.

I got my order in and shortly thereafter received an email informing me they were back-ordered because "...actually too great of an offer as we have already exhausted our inventory."  So I am not surprised that it has been taken down.

I took the deal rather than go through DTV to insure that I got the 44.  Looking for it in the next 5 days.

This talk of a Super Genie is interesting.  I had an HR20 & HR21 since 2007 until replacing the HR20 with an HR44-700 a few months ago.  After spending 6+ years taking naps between channel changes, it seems to me that the HR44 is a Super Genie.  :rotfl:

I know at least one guy that would disagree with you.

I did not get any "back-ordered because" notice. However my order has been "in-process" for over a week.

Setup:
HR20-700 w/1TB Hitachi eSATA.
Vantec Nexstar-3 External HD Enclosure with eSata

HR20-700 w/stock drive.

both running 0x01A6.

Sitting here wishing I had ordered one when they were on sale.

I do, I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.

Check ebay.  I just bought one brand new for $185, free shipping (yes i understand its a lease.)  More are available from the same seller, and no I am not the seller.  Just passing along the information.

Hopefully you checked with DirecTV to make sure you can actually activate it, but since you say is "new" you should have no problems as long is actually new.  But that is the "rub" with eBay when it comes to DirecTV receivers.
