make disney channel premium like it used to be.

That ended pretty much before DBS caught on.

Given Disney's overwhelming preference for megaplex bundling, no amount of negotiations is going to make that happen. Disney also couldn't bring themselves operate a channel without great gobs of advertising.

Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought. -- JFK

As a whole, NFL TV ratings are consistently stronger than college football.

No doubt that is true on a game-by-game basis, but I am not so sure it is true if you take the total of all viewers of colllege football games versus all viewers of all NFL games for a given week.  There are far more college games on TV than there are NFL games, so the individual college game (unless it is Auburn/Alabama, Michigan/Michigan State; Michigan/Ohio State, Texas/Oklahoma, etc) is not going to compare to most individual NFL games, but collectively, college games are a big draw.

With all the trouble the NFL continues to have, I wouldn't be sanguine about basing my entire business model on Sunday Ticket. College football has a far wider TV audience than pro football.

TV numbers tend to prove the opposite, the NFL is still king.  However,  I am starting to enjoy college football over pro.  I have grown weary of the daily dose of NFL drama by its players and owners.

...don't forget the WATCHESPN content. DIsh's addition makes DirecTV's omission look even more glaring. Straw broke camel's back i think.

What makes watch espn so important for you? I've never missed a game because it was on watch espn an not regular espn myself so I'm curios what people are missing without it.

Based on him having some letter C logo....if that's a college logo I don't recognize it. If he's a fan of a small school that's generally not making on TV but requires WatchESPN, I can see why he'd say that. If you're a fan of a major conference team this isn't an issue for a major sport (or even for some major conference teams if that conference doesn't have a network yet like the ACC or SEC until August)

UConn, I believe.

There is more college sports on ESPN3 than you would think. Even non-conference Big Ten and ACC basketball games.

They recently added ESPN3 to Roku. PQ is not very good but if it is the only way you get to watch some games you want to see....

WatchESPN only has the games that are on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.  If you are talking ESPN3 that is internet only and is not on WatchESPN.

Not quite true. WatchESPN, as an app, includes live streaming of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, Buzzer Beater and ESPN Deportes but it also includes ESPN3 games.

The app does. It is very confusing. Espn3 and watch espn are different on the webpage, or they appear to be. But the app has espn3 games. I am looking at it right now on my iPhone. Also, espn3 content on Rokus watch espn channel. I think the amounts differ but it is there.

Their naming is stupid.

In any event, if you have the right ISP, you can get Watch ESPN and ESPN3 regardless of what DirecTV does.  I switched ISPs specifically so I could get Watch ESPN and ESPN3.

How did switching ISP's get you WatchESPN when that is based on your "video" provider? Unless you got like Uverse or Fios and it tricked ESPN.

Uverse is not available where I live, but AT&T DSL is.  I switched to get ESPN3, but there is nothing I cannot get now.

WatchESPN has to be part of the deal or they WILL lose subscribers to Dish or cable companies.  I think we've all known that DirecTV was waiting until contract renewal time to bring WatchESPN to the table; now they HAVE to deliver.

+1 - If WatchESPN isn't live 2 weeks before the World Cup, I'm calling Comcast. As of now, I can't really go Dish, as they carry 0 NY RSNs.

Actually, that was ESPN's doing, not DTV's. They said when they launched WatchESPN that they would not negotiate to add it during any current agreements, only when the agreement with that particular provider was up.

Why? Isn't every game broadcast on an ESPN/ABC station?

If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

In many states without an NFL franchise, college is king on TV.

Also, to clear the confusion: WatchESPN access is dictated by your TV provider, ESPN 3 access is dictated by your Internet Provider. ESPN has a page that goes into full details on it.
