Hello,

I am soon to be ordering the Directv services. However, i truly want the HR44 model genie. So i guess my first question is... is the HR44 available in Houston, TX? I can't get a straight answer from anyone at Directv on this topic.

I know it isn't a big deal to have the HR34 or the HR44.... But i would much rather have the built in wifi the HR44 offers rather than shelling out $100 dollars for that cinema kit.

If anyone can offer any input or advice, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks for your time.

The HR44 is available nationwide, however, if you do get an HR34. the CCK-W is free of charge.  I would not use the wireless if at all possible, the tech can install a wired CCK by your router or you can connect the Genie directly to your router with an ethernet cable

Sorry for sounding ignorant.... But is there any reason not to use the wireless in your experience? I am only wondering :)

Wired is more bullet proof than wireless if you can do it easy enough

If an installer comes to your house he will have an HR44. If you have it shipped to you it's pot luck.

I put it this way.  Have you dropped a call while on a cellphone? Have you ever dropped a call while on landline (POTS)? having the other party hang up on you does not count.  :righton:

I rest my case!

I'm in Clear Lake and got an HR44 about 5 months ago when I added a Geni.  From what I remember from the HR 44 locations thread, I think Katy was also getting them at the time.  So I think you are pretty safe in ordering.

Thanks,
Rich
