I never understood the concept of placing a tv above a fireplace. It is just plain dumb, dumb to be there and dumb in the head!

It may be the best place for it.

Often they're the focal point of the furniture layout of the room and thus make this the best spot. What's so dumb about it? ! If you have a good recliner or couch with chase/ottoman then put your feet up and relax. If you have small or weird room/bad furniture for it then don't find another spot. To outright say it's dumb is in itself dumb.

I guess who don't know how to read, what else can I expect from you....

For my taste, if the TV is at the right hight, I am OK with it.  For me is not where it is mounted, but make sure is mounted properly

Your comments of a tilting mount not being the same or it being too high and hurting your neck would imply your opposed to it. ..

Again, now I am sure that you don't know how to read.  let me refresh your mind.... see below

And the neck has to tilt back to see up, regardless of whether the screen is tilted at a 90 degree angle or not.

OK, Last comments from me on your flip flop...

First:

With the proper mount the display can be tilted downwards.

Your response:

still not the same

Later....

your set up is not conventional, most fireplaces have a mantle and folks put up the TV a foot or more higher making it a really pain in the neck, literally.  You are a few of the exception, although I would have put it a little bit lower

In regards to my bad grammar earlier, thats what I get for using my phone, while watching TV and having my daughter crawl on me and not proofreading...ha

I've done a little cleanup. Let's discuss the topic, not each other.
