On Monday, a serious security vulnerability in OpenSSL - software which two-thirds of the Internet uses to keep connections secure - was announced and nicknamed "Heartbleed." .

This exploit allows an attacker/hacker to steal data such as account information and passwords from various web services and clients.

We want all of our users to know that DBSTalk's website was NOT affected by the vulnerability based on the OS we run.

To learn more about the Heartbleed bug please see... http://heartbleed.com/

Thanks. I was actually wondering about this, as at one point a screenshot Lastpass showed with their Security Check gave avsforum as potentially affected, but it never came up in my check. My next thought, does avsforum and dbstalk even use SSL for the sign in?

Doesn't really matter to me, I use unique passwords.

As Peds48 says, we have enough passwords to change :(

They do not.  AVSForum has not been owned by me from Oct 2011 when I sold it to Huddler who moved it to their own platform.  I also heard a rumor that they sold it just recently.

Whoops, guess I missed that. I thought it was still yours. On occasion since then I've actually linked to something on there.

Very True.  But some people are not aware of that and what it really means so I wanted to at least let people know that we are using an OS that was clear.

Yes, it is not really "known" as it was not announced.  Such a shame though about the resale without at least coming back to me and seeing if I would like it back.  Oh well.

So how does a person know if they're affected by this, is there a list of sites somewhere? What can we do to protect ourselves?

You can change passwords on the sites that use https if you want to be sure.   There is no list as it is up to the server owner what is used on the server as far as OS, versions, etc.
