I have the remote programmed to my Panasonic tv, HR44 and Yamaha receiver. It shuts the tv and hr44 off but not the Yamaha. Is there a way to program the power button for it? Thanks Michael

No. If your AVR and TV have ARC or similar feature then it can be setup to turn it off when the TV is shutoff.

ARC is for audio, CEC (HDMI) is for feature control

Yup, that's how it was designed.

Does Directv offer a remote that will control the 3 devices? I have been using a Harmony but really like the layout of the 71.

Its a bad design.

Since the HR44 can talk to the RC71 I wonder if theres a way D* could fix it so that it could turn the AVR on/off?

The RC71 is a very poor design...

If you have your HR44 running video through your AVR you may be able to use CEC to turn off the AVR after X amount of inactivity.

there is the RC65 or RC66, although you can program 3 devices, you must slide a switch to turn the AVR ON or OFF
