The next sat launch isn't even scheduled yet. No reason to ask for new HD channels now.

Don't they get launched from Russia?  That could be tricky with what's going on over there.

The next two D14 & D15 are to be launched from Kourou, French Guiana.

You are assuming that no new HD will come until after the new sat launch. While it is probable that the new Sat will give us a lot of new channels; it is by no means for sure that we will not see any. If you know different, please cite a credible source.

If this year to date is any indication then it's a pretty good assumption. I don't have any source at all, just past history.

This would be terrible if DISH claimed to be "The Sports Leader".

Yeah, this is an month old post, but I don't regularly read this thread, and I wanted to reply to it (forgive me if it's been addressed in the SEC thread).  I'm not trying to turn this into a DirecTV vs. DISH thread (each provider has their strengths and weaknesses).

Here in the Southeast, DISH has been running ads touting the launch of the SEC network for a while now.  They refer to themselves as "The Best In College Sports".

Is Sixto not reporting channels in testing (i.e. SEC Network) anymore or did I miss his post?

It's in the latest transponder map, bandwidth wise SEC HD replaced the Cinema HD channel that was on channel 146

Is it possible that we may get one or two additional new channels now that 3net is off the air. I know that 3D Channels use more bandwidth than regular hd channels.

No they use the same bandwidth.  Its just a standard 1920x1080 feed either side by side or top bottom split.  The 3D processor in the TV does the processing on this to expand it into two 960x1080 frames or two 1920x540 frames depending on top bottom or side by side format.

I think that was a 1080P channel
Will turning 146 off also be enough bandwidth to cover overflow feeds or will they have to turn off more ppv on Saturdays?

One channel will not make up for more than one. They will have to juggle things as they always do. But they do have a few channels they float for alternates and overflows. They aren't all turned to PPV.

While this does not mean anything to me, I did check and yes SEC Network is coming in here in HD.  I do not have the Sports pack.  Is this not going to be on cable and satellite operators sports pack?  Did SEC Network demand carriage on lower tiers like Big Ten or NFL Network did when they came out?  Or is this a free preview on DirecTV?  I'll have to check what other providers are doing like Comcast, TWC, AT&T, Dish, etc...
