Everytime I decide to upgrade/add receivers they'll do a free upgrade, That happened last year with the HR44, H24 in 2012, And the HR24 3 years ago, The only time I actually paid for a receiver was when I signed up with a HR22, Directv been good to me when I upgrade, And I don't even have the protection plan, And now they did a free upgrade to the C41W/WVB, Thanks Directv

I've noticed every 6- 12 months, a free upgrade pops up or 50% off.

Just log into your Online account, Click on a Receiver Description from your account,

Like HD Receiver, or HD DVR Receiver, it will either say Free, $49-$99, or Call 1-800-531-5000

Keeps you under contract another 2 years...... guaranteed money.

If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

Do you OWN IT?  Or are these free receivers just leased receivers that DIRECTV owns?

If you have to pay Directv every month to get the receiver to work, you don't own anything...

That's not true. You still pay lease fees on owned units.

Most are leased except one H24 (I have two H24's) But the leased H24 is being replaced with the C41W.

I never see that on my online account, always shows the regular price, But I don't check very often so...

Probably because I did upgrades before, So I don't expect to see discounts in my online account.

Mine is at $99 for HD DVR right now. But I only took a free upgrade 8 months ago.

I had to pay $99 as a new customer for HR34. LOL.

Knowing they upgrade customers like crazy now, I should have waited another year or more.

I think those of us you have had to endure the HR34 should get some type of special badge.

I'm counting down the days till this thing Dies.

I will flatout refuse the HR34 replacement. I'll be out of contract, so I'm not too worried.

You can always deactivate and return, then order a Genie again, In hopes of getting the HR44, if you know they carry HR44's in your area.
Of course that means paying full price or discount if you're lucky.
