I recently had a Genie and client installed. Almost once a day, I have to restart the Genie to get the client to work.

I will turn on the client and there will be only a black screen. Restarting the client does not fix it, but restarting the Genie does.

The genie works just fine.

Advice?

I will check the color of the light next time it has the black screen.

The splitter is in the basement and the client and genie are on the first floor. There was HD receiver connected with the same cables before the client was there and it had no issues.

I don't know what splitter they used when the original system was installed in November of 2008.

Can you post a photo of the splitter?  Does it have a green label on it?

You should run a system test on your HR44 and see if it gives you any MOCA errors.

When the client is not working or does it matter when I run the test?

A brief Google search seems to show this problem is rather prevalent. I found a thread where a Dtv CSR said they get calls about this all the time. I am starting to think I should have just kept my individual HD DVRs...as the one I kept in the basement has no issues; only the client is acting up.

The genie uses its own internal wireless adapter or is there an external W-CCK.

Was there an external WCCK prior to the Genie and was it removed?

The HR24 is hardwired to my router (as it was prior to the replacement of an HR22 with the Genie and a HD receiver with the client).

I see.

Directv sent out a Blast Fact about this sort of situation. I guess you didn't get your copy.

Your DECA cloud can only have one internet connection. Or it confuses Genies and clients.

How is your HR24 hardwired to your router.

There should not be an ethernet cable attached to your HR24.  Remove it and reset the HR24 so that it switches to using its internal DECA Coax network adapter.

I went to disconnect the ethernet cable from the HR24 and it was not connected...I guess the install tech disconnected it.

So, all the receivers are receiving their internet connection through the Genie.

They should be receiving it through a CCK.
