I recently had a Genie and client installed. Almost once a day, I have to restart the Genie to get the client to work.

I will turn on the client and there will be only a black screen. Restarting the client does not fix it, but restarting the Genie does.

The genie works just fine.

Advice?

I will check the color of the light next time it has the black screen.

The splitter is in the basement and the client and genie are on the first floor. There was HD receiver connected with the same cables before the client was there and it had no issues.

I don't know what splitter they used when the original system was installed in November of 2008.

Can you post a photo of the splitter?  Does it have a green label on it?

You should run a system test on your HR44 and see if it gives you any MOCA errors.

When the client is not working or does it matter when I run the test?

A brief Google search seems to show this problem is rather prevalent. I found a thread where a Dtv CSR said they get calls about this all the time. I am starting to think I should have just kept my individual HD DVRs...as the one I kept in the basement has no issues; only the client is acting up.

The genie uses its own internal wireless adapter or is there an external W-CCK.

Was there an external WCCK prior to the Genie and was it removed?

The genie replaced an HR22 which was not connected to my home network.
