I've been doing a ton of work for this Mexican slum lord who's got a huge house. He has no SSN, but has cable now on 11+ TVs in his house. He was thinking about getting dish (or direct) since I've been hooking up so many of his tenants. I told him he'd probably have to buy all the equipment or get someone else who lives in the home with a SSN to have the account. But I wasn't sure if Dish lets that many IRDs on one account. He doesn't want HD since there's very little Latino HD programming anyway, so I was thinking all 311s or 322s. Obviously I know how to hook up this many IRDs with switches, but would Dish allow it?

You do realize that DISH will want each individual apartment to have it's own subscription ?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. He has 11 TVs at his HOME. All his tenants have their own accounts.

I believe that Dish only goes to 6 leased tuners per account  - I maybe wrong about that. I don't know about if he OWNS the tuners / receivers.

I believe you are correct on the leased threshold ...

He could also get regular calls from the audit team having that many receivers. If any of them were not connected to the same phone line or failed to check in they would be disabled to prevent account stacking.

It seems quite unlikely to see 60 TVs on a residential account regardless of who is providing the programming.

Way back when, somewhere in the back of my mind, I remember there being a 12 or 16 receiver limit per account on Dish.

I don't know if this policy is still in force or if my memory is correct.

Tuners: Hopper 2000; Hopper w/Sling; 3 Joeys; Samsung SIR-T351; Accurian 6000;2 X HD TiVo; 2 X TiVo Series 2 Stand alone; Panasonic Showstopper 2000
Dish 1000.2 @ 110, 119, 129; dish 500 @ 61.5
Antennas - CM4228; RS U75-R; coathanger; Funke PSP.1922 (stillin the box); paperclip
Displays: Sony VPH D50Q with HD Fury HDMI input; Hitachi 57F59; Sony Bravia LCD;Sanyo 32" LCD; Panasonic 42" plasma
Sony 80GB PS3; Toshiba HD-DVD

the limit is and always has been 6 receivers on an account with dish. although there are ways to have more than that limit a standard csr cannot do it.

Unless it's a business account, I never seen that on a regular residental account.  The most I've seen is 16 mostly SD receivers.

Wouldn't 7 Joeys take all of both Hoppers tuners?,  and how would the 7th Joey work if all Joeys are in use?  I guess it depends how many Joeys are in use at the same time,  and if PTAT is enabled.

The four major networks always share a tuner ... so technically those six tuners could be delivering up to four network stations (regardless of time of day) plus five other live programs - nine feeds (one for each Hopper and Joey). Or a Hopper/Joey could be watching previously recorded content or VOD content.

Multiple Hopper/Joeys can watch the same feed at the same time as well.
