Tonight is a perfect example why they need to offer Game Center, alongside Center Ice.

H44-200 - Samsung 1080p 46" LED - HDMI
C41-100 - Samsunbg 32" LED - HDMI
C41-100 - Mitsubishi 1080p 57" DLP - HDMI - Pioneer Home Theater Sound

LG 20 LCD" & Viewsonic 17" HDTV LCD - Component via Cat 6 baluns from HR44-200
Slimline w/ SWM3 LNB. OTA master antenna system to all sets.

I went with Game Center this year and PQ has been excellent via Roku 3... much better than before. Streaming is really about equal now with PQ.

If you stop responding to them or put them on ignore, then eventually they'll go away.

In-between periods coverage or commercials?

It's the regular channel feed with everything ... at least Detroit's games are.

I haven't tried it with the Roku but a friend of mine has Gamecenter and on both PC and PS3 the difference between streaming and D* is still quite noticeable.

I've noticed live looks a little better than replays for some odd reason.

its actually a shame it isnt on fireTV ... the fireTV MLB app is by far the best of all platforms.  right now the best one I have seen hockey on is the roku 3.... remember hockey moves faster than baseball and the difference between streaming and satellite is going to be more noticeable.

The Roku Streams of the NHL are superb.  With the exception of TSN feeds, the Roku feeds are identical to broadcast feeds and dual feeds are always available. TSN feeds don't have commercials or intermissions.  Even with this one weakness I don't miss NHLCI on DirecTV.

HR21-100 HDMI to 32" LG and 20" AOC

Directv since 1996(the USSB,Pegasus days...)

You can rewatch games or if you come in late you can start from the beginning.

In most cases hockey moves faster, but my favorite team is the New Jersey Devils and there is nothing fast about them this season.

I no longer subscribe to Center Ice and Extra Innings. I have both a Roku and AppleTV and streaming NHL-Game Center and MLB.tv on both of the devices is every bit the equal of Directv's offerings with added features.

You get MLB.tv with EI, now, for a little extra total - that's definitely worth it IMO. I wish GC & CI were the same.

I need to try a Roku3, it lets you stream from a DLNA server, doesn't it?  I heard FireTV doesn't let you do that which is ridiculous and will ensure I never buy one.

You can use Plex on FireTV for DLNA.

Also ...I have several Roku's including a Roku 3 and they are great little boxes but the fire tv hardware is superior and the ability to easily side load any android apps (without rooting or anything else that would harm the box) is great.  The MLB.TV package is far and away the best on the FireTV and only inferior to Extra innings on D*

I hate Plex, it's completely unnecessary and I have heard it isn't free.  At least Roku supports DLNA now, I would go with that one.

Now I'm curious, what makes MLB.tv superior on FireTV?

I think the hardware is far and away the best (most powerful processor) on the FireTV and that is what drives the difference in Picture Quality.  it is crisp clear and almost no motion issues even when the action is moving at full speed ...the color quality is even better! (I have had the roku 2, 3, a chromecast, and a WDTV live on the same set watching MLB.TV at various times so I really have had a fair comparison I think).

I still can tell the difference between the FireTV and D* but it is really really close if MLB.TV wasnt included with EI this year I would have dropped EI (the FireTV is that close), and I have had both products since the first year either of them was offered.

You "heard it isn't free"?  So you don't have any actual experience with Plex?

I recently installed Plex Media Server and while there is a fee-based version (Plex Pass), I'm using the free version.
