Upgrading to directv hd question

I am a current directv customer 5 yrs. I have a 2 lnb dish. I have a hdtv and buying a directv hd reciever today. Do I absolutely have to change my dish for hd or can I use the existing one?

If you want to continue watching SD programming you can continue to use your existing dish. Seeing Directv broadcasts their HD channels off the 110 & 119 satellites it would be advisable to upgrade to the phase 3 dish if you expect to watch HDTV from Directv.

You don't say what slots your 2 LNB dish is looking at. 110 has ESPN, Showtime, DIscovery, HDNet Movies and channel 84 which is currently the Olympics feed. The other HD channels are on 119.

You may want to wait a month to upgrade your dish if it is not free. I no i wouldn't be able to wait for that long for HD but their is a rumor that a new dish is comming out pretty soon that will look at two other sats with more HD.
