One slim 18" enclosure replaces five speakers

Having trouble coordinating 5.1 channels with the chintz? Can't get the rear surround to go with the real suede? Are all those wires worrying the wife? M&K Sound may have the perfect solution to your home theater decorating woes. Five channels from one slender, 18" enclosure.

Bass, or lack of it, is the speaker's shortcoming. It is not designed to carry the .1 bass channel. Frequency response is listed on the spec sheet as 100Hz-23kHz, but I'd be surprised if the system goes down as low as 100 Hz on the usable portion of the response curve. For those us who like our on-screen explosions to crack the walls, a subwoofer is required. Conveniently, M&K offers a powered thumper, the K-10, that matches up nicely.

From the B&K marketing blurb:

M&K Sound introduces its new TRIPOLE SURROUND MATRIX™ technology which reproduces 5 channels of dynamic spectacular sound, including the two rear surround channels, from one small enclosure which can be easily mounted on the wall above or below a flat-panel TV, or sitting on top of a tube-type or big screen TV.

Originally developed for the M&K Professional line of loudspeakers for use in broadcast and post production studios, this high-performance speaker also performs superbly in the home environment.

The MP-4512 is the breakthrough product that solves the decorating problem of not having to place surround speakers in your living space but still allowing you to hear real 5-channel surround sound from your favorite films and music.

US Suggested Retail Price: $650

I would like to hear it before I would knock it.
But if they found a way to place the rear info when it is actually in front of me that would be quite a feat!!
Until then I am skeptical!!

It's like a violet Volkswagen - not for everyone.

Albeit a skosh pricey, I would love to try it to see if it would solve the problem of an asymmetrical theater layout. At the price, plus woofer, it better be damn good.
