VOOM went dark on Sunday, May 1, 2005, around 3:00 am EDT. It's passing was noted by a few late-nighters and a handful of other dish-heads. VOOM was the first DBS provider to bring HD fans more than a handful of HD channels, and will long be remembered for its 21 original and unique HD offerings, ten of which have been added by Dish Network.

Thanks, Chuck Dolan, for a great ride. You raised the bar and showed us what HD can and should be.

R.I.P., and Cya on Dish! :)
