Should I opt for a Dish 1000 install or re aim my 148 sat to the 129 location? Is the technology better, equipment better, programming better? Right now I have the DP 500 Dual with 110/119, 148, and 61.5 sats, so the 1000 would eliminate one of the 3 sats on my roof. I also want to keep the 61.5 sat up there for the east coast feeds as I am on the west coast in a must carry locals area.

129 is another DBS slot so it's the same technology. Some must carry stations on the wings are being moved to 129 so that dish can be repointed or you can get a Dish 1000. Others are remaining on the wings, presumably until the Echostar X satellite, which has more spot beams than E-VIII, is placed into service. It sounds like you should do nothing until you know where your local on 148 will end up.

I think by "DP 500 Dual" you actually mean Dish 500 with DP Twin.

"dual" is NOT the same as "Twin" - here's why

Some SuperDish markets are also at 129. On Setpember 27th those markets on 129 will be installed a Dish1000.

Some SuperDish markets are also at 129. On September 27th those markets on 129 will be installed a Dish1000.

Clarification: New customers in those markets (all new subscribers and those who add locals or Voom) will receive a Dish1000. The timetable for trading out SDs or D500s for D1000s has not been set.

(In other words, if you are an existing customer don't expect a new dish on Sept 27th.)

I can say right now that the look angle in my area (The Ohio Valley) is low so many that get their locals from 105 may not be able to receive them from 129 due to trees.
