What is the Latest on HD Locals for Los Angeles?
Posted 02 January 2006 - 12:44 PM
I thought I heard that perhaps they may be coming in Q1, 2006? I'm moving in a week and right now I'm considering making a change. It seems ridiculous that I still have to depend on an antenna, a pre-amp and good weather to get HD locals (sorry, complaint dept. is now closed).

I live much further away from the LA OTA towers than you and have not lost any Digital channels inc. ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC. You may want to check your OTA antenna. I do need to use an amp (Ventura County) and I have 942 boxes.

Would you like the rumors or would you like to wait a couple of days for an announcement?
Do we know what the future of distant HD locals will be? Will they be in MPEG 2 or 4? And I wonder which sat they will be on?

I don't know what it is about this particular spot, but I've had trouble from day one. In Redondo Beach I had a tiny antenna with no preamp and got fantastic reception. Here in Woodland Hills, I'm actually closer to the tower, am at the top of a hill, am using a huge antenna, have a preamp, and have had all kinds of problems with reception.
The good news is, I'm back in Redondo next week and hopefully all my troubles will be over.
Thanks for the tip.
