I am wondering what actually takes place on the calls from the HD DVR to Directv? I have a device that uses my existing phone lines in my house for Spring cell phone service. The call to Directv will succeed no problem if it is just a regular phone number, but I am wondering about data transmission? If the call succeeds and data can not be transferred is the nagging message still going to appear. I don't have the DVR yet, this is just a question for when I get it installed in a week. Thanks

If the call is not totally sucessful, you will receive a message telling you so. The unit will still work correctly because the phone is only used to report pay-per-view viewings and to schedule software downloads. The guide data comes from the satellite with no phone connection needed.
