Looking at the stats on this part of the meeting regarding outsourcing of customer service doesn't bode well for the folks here in the US. More US jobs going to India, the Phillipines etc ?? Doubling the amount of jobs outsourced from just last year- Scary!!

Chances are some people at D* are reading these forums where people are threatening to burn their D* receivers and dishes because of a $3/month rate hike. They have to keep costs down.

Let's face it, it costs a lot more to hire people in America. You have to pay us more and we all want health benefits and other perks. (Just look at how GM got into trouble by having huge employee costs that it simply couldn't maintain.) Plus there's all the government regulations that cost money to adhere to. It's just cheaper to hire it out to foreign countries.

Please. Do you think that the previous U.S. D* and E* call centers were unionized?

"unions", how about thanking "corporate greed"! If it wasn't for unions, our quality of life would be like India or other 3rd world countries!!!

Heh, not until a month ago when I heard rumors of a lease going down.
That alone was enough to get me all freaked out, those call centers in the Phillipines.....ack ack ack ack!

And no dissing on the Phillipines... that is where my in-laws come from.
Just like here... they work hard, to try to make their lives better for themselves and their families.

Actually I wasn't meaning to diss the Phillipines, just the call center....they have been known to transfer for the dumbest reasons-
Case in point-
I'm in technical(ok, let the jokes begin...lol)and I get a transfer from someone who is in billing...why? So a customer can make a payment!
We are all on the same slow lame system but why can they not take a payment?
I guess it's alot easier to make the customer angry while transferring them.
If its technical I handle it(unless it involves replacing HD or DVR then it goes to tech 2)billing, troubleshooting(including HD and DVR)programming changes, purchasing extra equipment, and just plain ordinary questions ranging from movers connection to new customer plans.
I try and keep the customer on my end and only transfer IF I have to, to keep the customer happy.

Again, no offense intended.

getting a little persoanl on a public forum aren't you?
the name of this forum is outsorced care network,
it's not D*s customers fault that they are tired of talking to
people that can't speak or understand good english,
blame dtv for not giving there outsoursers enough training
for the job they are suppose to be doing, personally i
get around this problem by telling them to transfer me
to a U.S. tech and hope i don't get disconnected.
now personally i don't care where your in-lawa are from
it i have a problem with ANY outsourcing country i have the
right to complain about it.heck i've even complained about a canidian
company and i'm married to a canidian, she and her family know's
how much i hate canada, just because i love my family doesn't mean
i have to love where they came from,no matter where in the world
including the U.S. that is.and for you to tell that member" no dissing
the phillipines" is rediculace, because you would not have said that
if he had refured to mexico or china. as of NOW you can take me off
the members list,i've been here for the last time.so if you decide to
reply to this build it up big for the other members, because i'll never
see it.

You really don't get it do you....

I said no "dissing on the Philipines"

I didn't say... "There will be no negative talk of the Phillipines or you will be gone.."

It was a sly comment... like "Hey man, watcha talking about"

Just because my "in-laws" are from the Philipines doesn't mean the entire country get's a "pass"... Are ya kidding? You, and everyone else has the right to "diss" on the callcenters if they don't work for you... Bottom line period...

That is your right and some of the purpose of a board like this.

But regardless if you blanket state that all of the Philipines, Mexico, India, Canada, ect...... are a problem... then.... we will have a debate... There are just as many "bad" csr/phone jockies here in the great USA... (and if the statement was made against any other country, I would have said the same thing... except for the In-Law part....)

And for some reason... I don't thik you will be gone for long...
As if that comment above twisted your undies that much... you won't be around long on many forums...

You didn't stir the pot.... It is just the nature of forums where "body language" and "voice tone" doesn't translate well.

Bye. Good riddance.

Earl, I'm sure the vast majority undersood the playful tone of your post - and probably got a laugh out of it.

Besides, I would imagine cobra2225 will be back under some other name anyway.
