We all have different stories, some decisions are clear...to go with cable....go with sat...etc. For me, Adelphia cable simply can't get a good signal in my house, despite two years of trying. I get pixalated digital channels, blackouts, entire evenings without service...just sick and tired of it:nono2: , time to give D* a shot.

So, I called and talked to Directv this week, twice. I live in Northern Virginia, about 35 miles south of DC. I need 3 rooms; 1 SD, 1 SD/DVR, and 1 HD/DVR.

They told me they would install 1 H20, 1 H20 DVR, and one HR20...yep, that's right, HR20...now. I had to ask more than once to be sure, because I have heard/read that they are not showing up until summer 2006.

Think they are just pulling my leg?

They will also install the new 5LNB. I will pay $399 for the HR20 (Retails for $499...$100 less than the H10 250...but only a $100 rebate...price is #399 either way, but the HR20 is MPEG2/4...with MPEG4 that's 50 hours HD recording time:D ) and I will pay $99 for the SD/DVR, and get a mail-in rebate of $99..the H20 and 5LNB, installation are free.

I think I will wait until next Wednesday, 3/1, because I do not want to own this equipment, just lease it in case the next lightening strike gets it (don't want to pay protection plan money). They $$ is about the same (slight price hike) for own versus lease...mirror versus lease fees, etc.

Best of all, the locals are all in HD and are covered with the new MPEG4! Might have it by next weekend. Now, if I can just get a replacement for cable Internet...:D

100% for certain... you will not be getting an HR20.....

1 H20
1 H20 DVR
and
1 HR20 ?

You had a seriously confused CSR on the phone.... out of those three.
The H20 (non DVR :D ) is the only release product
There is no H20 DVR
and the HR20 hasn't been released yet.

I've yet to see it, I'm an employee(yes one of those dreaded lurkers)and we keep getting the same message.....mid 2006.

I'm just hoping this thing doesn't have the bugs that the R15 has had, sheesh!
